<p>Angoulins, église Saint-Pierre ès lien.<br>
L'église Saint-Pierre d'Angoulins fut donnée en 993 à l'abbaye de Bourgueil puis au XIe siècle, à l'abbaye Saint-Cyprien de Poitiers. Une bulle du pape Sixte IV, datée de 1481, parle de sa restauration.<br>
Elle perdit toutes ses voûtes au cours des guerres de religion, et ne fut remise en état que peu à peu au XVIIe siècle. En 1886, on partagea l’intérieur en trois nefs, bien que jusqu’alors elle n'en compta que deux. La vieille nef sert depuis de sacristie et de remise.<br>
On rencontre au nord et au sud deux belles fenêtres romanes, dont une est ornée de pointes de diamant, de palmettes et de marguerites. Presque toute l'église date du XVe siècle. La plus ancienne nef, au sud, comptait cinq travées et fut agrandie par un collatéral vers le nord. Le chevet est fortifié. Un chemin de ronde à mâchicoulis y relie trois échauguettes assises au sommet des contreforts.<br>
Un beau portail existe à l’ouest, dessinant une accolade et orné de gras crochets de chou frisé. Remarquez à 1’intérieur 1’ancienne cloche de Saint-Jean de Châtelaillon, datée de 1631, et la chaire en bois sculpté et en fer forgé, datée de 1758, provenant du couvent des Ursulines de La Rochelle. </p>
