<p align="justify"><span class="cyan gras">Dédiée à Saint Vivien</span>, elle fut échangée avec celle de Courcelles qui fut cédée à Robert de Villequier, abbé de Saint Jean-d’Angely.<br>
De l’église édifiée à la fin du XIe siècle et dédiée à Saint-Vivien, il ne semble rester que la partie inférieure de la façade, le chevet et, à l’intérieur, de beaux chapiteaux à l’entée du chœur.<br>
<span class="cyan gras">A l’intérieur</span>, la nef est éclairée par deux petites fenêtres romanes. L’entrée du chœur est limitée par deux colonnes accouplées dont les chapiteaux représentent à gauche une chimère et des animaux affrontés, à droite un personnage situé entre deux autres, avec en arrière un autre personnage tenant à la main une masse d’armes ou un bâton; il a la tête en arrière et un autre personnage qui le suit le tient par sa barbe et une oreille. Ces colonnes sont engagées sur un pilier plat et un rectangulaire allongée vers la nef. Il porte une voûte massive en plein cintre qui supporte le clocher. Ce massif rectangulaire est flanqué en arrière de deux colonnes engagées à chapiteaux gravés. En arrière deux pilastres plats portent un arc en plein cintre derrière lequel l’<?php affiche_lexique('abside','');?> ou chœur est une voûte en cul de four en arc plein cintre précédé d’un avant chœur en berceau brisé. Dans le chœur sont situés des chapiteaux décoratifs en feuillages. Etant au fond du chœur on voit un arc outrepassé: bord qui dépasse autour qui ressemble un peu à ceux des mosquées, trace d’influence mauresque, les Arabes ayant occupé la région aux VIIe et VIIIe siècles. Dans la nef on remarque une avancée de support de voûte.<br>
A l’extérieur, la façade occidentale est percée d’un portail à deux voussures, en plein cintre, encadrées par: Une <?php affiche_lexique(archivolte,'');?>: à gauche des oiseaux dressés sur leurs pattes qui se lissent les plumes, un chien qui poursuit un renard, des oiseaux à tête humaine (sirènes oiseaux) à droite des têtes de chats.<br>
<span class="cyan gras">Première voussure</span>: feuillage en forme de S, pareil à Aulnay.<br>
Entre les voussures, il y a un cordon de billettes.

<span class="cyan gras">Deuxième voussure</span>: les monstres du bestiaire Roman, recueil des oiseaux fantastiques, symbole du mal.<br>
Des humaine se font face de chaque côté, un chapiteau qui repose sur une colonne.<br>
<span class="cyan gras">Chapiteau de gauche</span>: deux monstres à queue de serpent avec 2 oiseaux qui sont perchés sur la croupe.<br>
<span class="cyan gras">Chapiteau de droite</span>: une tête d’homme encadrée par deux monstres.<br>
<span class="cyan gras">Tailloir du chapiteau </span>: à droite une frise de feuilles à gauche des rinceaux.<br>
De chaque côté des contreforts, au chevet à l’est: tout autour il y a des modillons.<br>
1ère sculpture: un petit tonneau du vigneron (symbole de la région viticole).<br>
1er chapiteau: au-dessus de la colonne, personnages des «grands goules» thème oriental qui symbolise l’enfer.<br>
2ème chapiteau: feuillages avec des boules.<br>
3ème chapiteau: feuilles d’acanthe " plante du midi" <br>
4ème chapiteau: des marches, escalier, en signe d’élévation vers le ciel.<br>
5ème chapiteau: des losanges.<br>
<span class="cyan gras">Le clocher</span> est carré, bien saintongeais, style roman.</p>
<p align="justify">Classée dans sa totalité monument historique le 24 Juin 1983.</p>
