<p align="justify">Église Saint-Martin de Courcoury des XIe, XIIe, XVIIe et XIXes siècles.<br>
Un premier édifice fut construit au XIe siècle dont subsiste une partie des murs en petit appareil de la nef.<br>
Au XIIe siècle, le clocher fut construit et le chevet replis.<br>
Une chapelle fut rajoutée au XVe siècle. La nef fut rallongée au XVIIe siècle.<br>
La façade a été entièrement reconstruite au XIXe siècle dans un style néoclassique.<br>
A voir, à l'intérieur: la coupole romane sur pendentifs dans le chœur; la croisée d'ogives avec une clef de voûte sculptée de la chapelle du XVe siècle; le baptistère à deux bassins du XIVe siècle. L'église Saint-Martin, sur le mur sud de sa nef, garde des témoignages de l'art roman du XIe siècle (petits moellons cubiques parfois en épi, traces de petites fenêtres archaïques).<br>
Dans la seconde moitié du XIIe siècle, sont édifiés le chœur en hémicycle (deux contreforts-colonnes aux chapiteaux à feuilles lisses schématisées, corniche sur modillons géométriques...) et le clocher (paires de lancettes géminées...) ensemble très cohérent et bien conservé, d'une qualité architecturale indéniable (taille de pierre, décor).<br>
La nef romane n'a jamais été voûtée en pierre alors que la travée sous le clocher présente une coupole sur pendentifs. À la fin du XVe siècle est bâtie une belle chapelle latérale nord, gothique avec une grande baie à remplage rayonnant; elle s’ouvre à l'intérieur, par une grande arcade brisée qui porte sur sa clef le blason d'une famille.<br>
En 1770, la nef est allongée de neuf mètres vers l'ouest et terminée par une façade classique de bonne facture (bossages, fronton triangulaire imposant), plutôt rare en Saintonge, que l'on doit à l'entrepreneur Emery.<br>
En 1828, la partie supérieure de la coupole sous le clocher est reconstruite en brique, Comme la partie de la nef.<br>
Cette nef est décaissée en 1962 de 80 cm et son sol refait en tomettes.<br>
L'édifice figure en totalité à l'inventaire depuis le 22 avril 2003. L’inscription favorise sa protection et celle du bourg, au bâti de qualité: (ancien prieuré, maisons en pierres de taille du XIXe siècle), Implanté sur une île au confluent des vallées de Charente et de Seugne. </p>
